I have recently started using a new name with my music and art: Lara Oshon. It is pronounced like "ocean," and the spelling is derived from my family name, Johnson. I just rearranged a few letters. I choose this name because it chose me. I have been meditating about it for more than a year.
I can't really explain this change - nor do I feel I need to - except to say it just feels right. It fits. Each of the letters means something to me, and certainly the ocean as a place and symbol means a lot to me. We now know there is truly only one ocean, that all water is connected. And since our bodies are mostly comprised of water, we are also all connected - both to each other and to the natural world.
Johnson is my biological family name, and Oshon is my global family name. I embrace all life as my family, and I create music and art that honors this connection. Or at least that is my intention. Using this name is a reminder to myself of why I create, of my commitment to this dream of a world that runs on Love, Peace and Unity. I believe this world already exists and is growing through us.
Which world do you live in? Fear or Love? Who knows, there may be a new name out there for you too! :)
I deeply honor and appreciate both my Johnson family and my larger Oshon family.
funny how an explanation seems so redundant. the name is right...it just is it washed up to shore and surrounded you
